Morgan Creek have confirmed that shooting of the Tupac Shakur biopic is finally set to begin.

With Universal handling the distribution, filming should begin in the springtime. 

The movie chronicles the life of the notorious star, focussing on the war that ravaged the hip-hop industry.

It has the blessing of Tupac's mother Afeni Shakur-Davis, who said: "I am confident that Morgan Creek will stay true to the common goal we share of depicting Tupac’s life in a way that will allow the world to see the authenticity of his artistry, his hopes, and his life goals."

With shoots set for Los Angeles, New York, Georgia and Las Vegas, producers can finally get to work on casting.

Tupac Shakur was gunned down in a drive-by following a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas in 1996.
